This May will mark the third anniversary of the full opening of Shanbei Avenue, a major thoroughfare linking Chenghai District with Shantou's central urban area. Over the past three years, this long road has evolved into not just a geographical connector but also a bustling industrial corridor and a vital economic artery for northern Shantou, integrating key resources such as industry, urban development, and talent.
The road has subtly reshaped perceptions of distance and connectivity. Where a trip from downtown Shantou to Chenghai once felt long and distant, the construction of this main artery has completely changed that perception.
"Because of my job, I frequently travel between Chenghai District and Chaoyang District," said truck driver Chen Zepeng. "Ever since Shanbei Avenue opened, I've saved a lot on toll fees."
Shanbei Avenue has become a major transportation artery in eastern Guangdong, connecting Shantou's central urban area with Chenghai District and reaching into Raoping County, Chaozhou.
The Chenghai section of Shanbei Avenue offers wide views and smooth, flat roads, flanked by beautiful rural landscapes.
Thanks to Shanbei Avenue, truck drivers have significantly reduced their expressway toll expenses.
