Guangzhou Mayor meets Indian Ambassador to China

Guangzhou Mayor Sun Zhiyang met with Vikram Kumar Doraiswami, the Ambassador of India to China, and his delegation at the municipal government offices in Guangzhou on August 19.

Sun Zhiyang welcomed the delegation and briefed them on Guangzhou's economic and social development. Guangzhou has a long history of exchanges with India. In recent years, the two sides have made further progress in cooperation and exchanges in areas such as trade and investment, people-to-people and cultural exchanges, business engagement and sister-city relations.

Sun Zhiyang expressed hope that both sides would work together to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries. He emphasized the importance of leveraging their respective strengths and strengthening two-way cooperation in commerce and trade, youth exchanges, culture and tourism. The goal is to expand the benefits of cooperation and strive for mutually beneficial, win-win cooperation at a higher level.

Vikram Kumar Doraiswami spoke highly of Guangzhou's achievements in economic and social development. He said Guangzhou has strong development momentum and vast market potential, making it an important economic partner for India.

He noted that there is great potential for India-Guangzhou cooperation in areas such as industrial machinery, new-energy vehicles, food processing, culture and tourism. The Embassy of India in China is willing to serve as a bridge to further promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges and deepen practical cooperation in industrial, business, trade and economic fields. It seeks to actively encourage more Indian companies to participate in the Canton Fair, with a view to delivering more cooperation outcomes that benefit people on both sides.
