A delegation of 34 robotics companies from Guangdong is making a strong showing at the World Robot Conference 2026 (WRC 2026), which kicked off on August 19, in Beijing.

Guangdong takes center stage with full-chain robotics showcase
The Guangdong contingent ranks among China's largest provincial delegations at WRC 2026, with exhibitors spanning all four major pavilions, a testament to the region's deep and comprehensive robotics ecosystem.
Guangdong's presence covers the entire robotics value chain, from upstream core components such as specialized power batteries, 3D vision sensors and transmission parts, through midstream control motherboards and 5G communication modules, to finished robot systems designed for a wide range of real-world applications.

Several headline-making robots from representative Guangdong companies are on display.
UBTECH is presenting its Walker series of industrial humanoids alongside the U1 consumer-grade model. DOBOT has unveiled a new high-payload dual-arm humanoid. LimX Dynamics is showcasing its Luna full-size general-purpose robot, and other local firms are introducing lightweight, cost-effective small humanoids and specialized units for industrial tasks.

A number of Guangdong companies are also demonstrating dexterous hands, servo drives and other key components purpose-built for humanoid robots.
Exhibits display a wide range of application scenarios, including industrial unmanned inspection, manufacturing assembly, scientific research and educational interaction, and more. They reflect the diversity of Guangdong's robotics sector.

Before the buzz, Guangdong's industrial chain was already taking root
The WRC 2026 is billed as a leading tech extravaganza and global "innovation-driven gathering." Guangdong's robust contingent at the conference, covering the entire chain, firmly places the province at the forefront of China's robotics narrative.

Yet, its impressive demonstration is not the result of overnight success. As early as 2020, Guangdong designated intelligent robotics as a strategic emerging industrial cluster. The province established a clear mandate to cultivate market-driven application scenarios, focus on industrial, service and specialty robots, and develop critical components such as reducers, servo motors and controllers.
By the end of 2025, Guangdong's robotics-related product sales revenue had surpassed 140.4 billion yuan. This figure grew at an average annual rate of 8.4 percent over the previous 3 years, leading other provinces in China.
In 2025, its industrial robot output reached 336,300 units, accounting for 43.5 percent of China's national total and securing the top spot for six consecutive years.
Service robot production was equally impressive at 15.18 million units, accounting for 81.7 percent of Chinese production.

In other words, long before "embodied intelligence" became an industry buzzword, Guangdong had already cultivated a mature and thriving robotics ecosystem.
However, robotics is a demanding industry that requires not only R&D but also a complete manufacturing and supply chain, as well as abundant real-world use cases. In Guangdong, a mature industrial foundation has nurtured this robotic expertise.

Shenzhen specializes in electronics, vision, communications, chips and AI. Dongguan provides precision machining and component manufacturing. Foshan offers a vast market for manufacturing applications. Guangzhou brings automotive, equipment and research strengths; and Huizhou supplies power battery capabilities.
In essence, robotics in Guangdong represents a new technological overlay on an already robust industrial base, enabling the province to move swiftly from components to complete systems, as evidenced by its comprehensive presence at this year's conference.

From local powerhouse to the world, WRC invites global robotics excellence
The WRC is China's leading robotic industry event. This year's WRC will run until August 23. The event's themes focus on human-robot symbiosis and the convergence of robotic production and demand. The main program includes 7 main forums, 70 side events, more than 300 exhibitors from around the world and over 3,000 exhibits.

The finals of the 2026 World Robot Contest, widely acclaimed as the "Olympic Games" in robotics, will be held during the conference.
At the WRC 2026, 17,802 industry talents from 26 countries and regions will gather to showcase their technological strengths, making this year's edition a truly international display of technological prowess.
