On May 9, the launch ceremony for the rural micro-reality show "Explore Villages, Discover Wonders!" (Qingxin Edition) was held at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS). Following the event, over 30 international students from countries including the U.S., Brazil, Congo, and Egypt will embark on a journey to explore Qingxin District in Qingyuan City through immersive cultural experiences and site visits.
During the ceremony, cutting-edge AR technology allowed students to virtually roam through Qingxin's picturesque rural landscapes. Student representatives also received welcome kits before setting off for their first destination, Longjing Town. There, they will learn about Qingyuan's origins, taste the region's famous Mazhu bamboo shoots, visit homestays transformed from old residences, and experience traditional pottery-making—an intangible cultural heritage.
The program presents Guangdong in a fresh format: international student perspectives, micro-reality show, and rural development storytelling. Through multilingual content shared on platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, and WeChat, the show aims to broaden global awareness of China's rural revitalization efforts—particularly innovations under the “High-Quality Development Project for Hundreds of Counties, Thousands of Towns, and Myriads of Villages.”
A cooperation agreement signed between GDUFS and Qingxin District will also support the co-development of rural experience bases for international students. With its rich cultural heritage and diverse ecology, Qingyuan welcomes students to discover, document, and share its rural transformation with the world.
