Zheng Qinwen's China Open photos put "Binhaiwan intelligent manufacturing" on global stage

At the recently concluded China Open 2026, crystal-clear photos of tennis star Zheng Qinwen, shot on a smartphone fitted with a teleconverter, took the internet by storm. From the Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix and the FIFA World Cup to concert venues around the globe, the OPPO Find X10 paired with a Hasselblad teleconverter and vivo X500 Pro Max paired with a ZEISS teleconverter have become go-to tools for professional photographers and ordinary spectators alike.

These Dongguan-made flagship telephoto smartphones are bringing the imaging aesthetics of Dongguan's intelligent manufacturing to every arena and concert stage in the world. Behind these globally popular flagship camera phones are two industry giants long rooted in the Dongguan Binhaiwan Bay Area.

The Binhaiwan Bay Area is home to leading companies such as OPPO, vivo and Imoo. A smart terminal cluster worth 100 billion yuan has taken shape as an integrated industrial belt. Building on this solid foundation, the area is steadily expanding into new fields, including artificial intelligence, imaging technology, and sports and health.

OPPO Binhaiwan Park, with a total investment of 10 billion yuan, is a key strategic base for OPPO's push into frontier technology and its global expansion. The park focuses its research and development on intelligent computing power, 5G, artificial intelligence and next-generation mobile smart terminals, creating an "engineers' paradise" that combines scientific innovation with a full range of everyday amenities.

OPPO has also set up its Global Computing Center in Binhaiwan, along with what it calls the world's largest OPPO Sports Health Laboratory. The Global Computing Center supports the training of large models with 100 billion parameters, providing strong data support for on-device AI.

For its part, vivo has chosen Binhaiwan for its Smart Terminal Headquarters project. With a gross floor area of about 775,000 square meters, the project will center on the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, smart terminal product R&D and mobile Internet business, and will serve as a headquarters-level R&D base that draws large numbers of top research talent. Its first phase is scheduled to open in 2030.

Binhaiwan's smart terminal industry is set to upgrade its technology even faster. In the years to come, more consumer electronics will make their way from here to users on every continent.
