Try new projects in amusement parks
The Chimelong Water Park (长隆水上世界) in Guangzhou has officially kicked off the 2025 summer season for water fun. Three world-class facilities have been unveiled. The Storm Double Blaster is composed of the world's first family honeycomb combination slide and the world's tallest big combination horns; the Turbo Twin Surf is a slide with the greatest height difference, allowing you to slide down at a high speed; and the Magnetic Water Coaster is China's first electromagnetic catapult slide.
The Sunac Land (融创乐园) in Guangzhou has launched activities with the theme of "Water Splashing Carnival, Dreamy Fireworks Show". These activities leverage elements of diverse ethnic cultures to create an immersive feast where tradition collides with fashion. There will be Dai-style electronic music parties, stunt fireworks, light shows, and intangible cultural heritage performances such as the fire-spitting of the Wa ethnic group and Huohu (fire pot).
Recently, at the Chimelong Safari Park (长隆动物世界) in Guangzhou, the giant panda star has been officially named "Meizhu" (妹珠). This adorable little panda that grew up in Guangzhou is loved by all Guangzhou residents.
Cyber dogs show up at the BONSKI (热雪奇迹) in Guangzhou. They will showcase their dancing skills on the snow and provide spectacular shows featuring technology. Activities include lion dance parades, skiing with children, and interactions with visitors.
Experience authentic Lingnan culture
The Guangdong Museum (广东省博物馆) is a great place to explore Lingnan culture. When visiting the museum, you can check out popular exhibitions such as "Lingering Gaze—Curated Art Collections from the 16th to 20th Century" and "Land of the Sun—Treasures Exhibition of Iranian Culture and Art." In addition, the cultural and creative cakes are a must-try, as they are as exquisite as works of art.
The Hua Ting Fang (花厅坊) in Guangzhou, an ancient village with a history of 900 years, has been transformed into the first innovative cultural and tourism commercial block with Lingnan characteristics. During this May Day holiday, the new scenic spot will open for you to have novel experiences. You can enjoy Lingnan-style carvings, gray sculptures and murals, and red-brick ancient alleys. Moreover, you can listen to live Cantonese opera in the century-old hall, enjoy electronic music, and watch battles among teams performing the Yingge Dance.
During this holiday, the Shawan Ancient Town (沙湾古镇) is a great place for food. From May 1 to June 15, the "Seeking Taste of Shawan" activity will be held, where you can hang out, taste food, and collect stamps. There are over a hundred kinds of delicious foods, as well as various traditional handicrafts with Lingnan characteristics. The lion dance, Guangdong's intangible cultural heritage, will also be performed to celebrate the May Day holiday.
You can also enjoy fierce dragon boat races during this holiday. The 2025 Guangzhou Dragon Boat Championship and Guangzhou Water Sports Carnival will be held at the Luhu Water Sports Center (麓湖水上活动中心) from May 1 to 5 and from May 17 to 18.
Have a date with the sea of flowers
Baomo Garden (宝墨园) in Panyu boasts a sunken water curtain fountain stage, a grand landscape live show, a lotus pond spanning over 1,000 square meters, and three giant lotus sculptures in Jubao Pavilion.
In Haizhu Lake Park (海珠湖公园), over 20,000 square meters of galsang flowers, which resemble a flower carpet from afar, stretch along the lakeshore and undulate with the terrain.
At Yuntai Garden (云台花园), colorful Chinese Roses are in full bloom, transforming the fragrant paradise into Monet's garden. A breathtaking tapestry of Chinese Roses here creates a romantic atmosphere that's off the charts.
Relax in the parks
During the May Day holiday, major parks and scenic spots in Guangzhou have launched over 60 unique activities across more than 300 sessions, crafting a joyous and surprising holiday feast for visitors.
Previously, Yuntai Garden and Yunluo Botanical Garden have cooperated to offer a joint ticket for one-stop access to both. From May 1 to 5, Yunluo Botanical Garden will host the 2025 Spring "Chill Festival" event. On May 5, the garden plans to hold a plant-themed fun orienteering race.
