The organizing committee of the 15th National Games convened its second plenary meeting alongside the second delegation heads' meeting in Guangzhou on November 9, marking the final phase of preparation ahead of the Games' official opening.

The conference came ahead of the official opening of the 15th National Games, which is to commence at 20:00 on November 9 in Guangdong's capital city Guangzhou. The gathering signals that all systems are go for the nation's premier multi-sport event. With preparations entering the last crucial stretch, the committee and participating delegations have fully mobilized to ensure a seamless start.
Senior officials including the Games' vice director and standing committee member of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, along with the Secretary for Justice of the Hong Kong SAR Government and the Secretary for Society and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, reported on preparatory progress in their respective host regions. Also addressing the assembly were the head of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection inspection team stationed at the General Administration of Sport, and the minister in charge of the sport authority, who serves as director of the Games' organizing committee.
As was stressed by the conference, up to now, all competition and non-competition venues of the 15th National Games have been completed, competition organization is progressing smoothly, and service support systems have been comprehensively enhanced and are now fully in place.
As the highest-level and largest comprehensive sports event in China, the 15th National Games marks the first time the National Games is jointly hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao – making it the most influential multi-sport event ever staged in the Greater Bay Area.
The Games will showcase not only thrilling athletic competition but also the technological strength and collaborative innovation of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Highlight innovations include: the use of VR and AI technologies to create immersive viewing experiences of the Games, the pioneering collection of the Games' torch flame from deep-sea waters, a four-city torch relay across the three regions, streamlined customs processes through a joint coordination mechanism between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao and several cross-boundary competitions held historically across the three regions.
As the first National Games to extend into Hong Kong and Macao, the event represents an innovative embodiment of the "One Country, Two Systems" principle in sports. It is set to deepen integration within the Greater Bay Area and support Hong Kong and Macao in better aligning with and contributing to the nation's development.
In the conference's concluding remarks, Gao Zhidan, Director of the Organizing Committee and Minister of the General Administration of Sport of China, underscored the imperative of upholding strict discipline and a zero-tolerance policy against doping.
He called for a steadfast commitment to the principle of "Clean Sport," ensuring that all participants compete with integrity and win fairly, thereby safeguarding a just and transparent competitive environment for the Games.
