Xinhui, a district of Jiangmen City, has its best bird-watching season from November to April. During this period, large numbers of migratory birds come here for a relatively warm winter. Here are several bird-watching spots in Xinhui.

Birds' Paradise (小鸟天堂)

Birds' Paradise, the earliest bird-watching site in Jiangmen, lies on a mid-river sandbar of the Tianma River in Tianma Village. Here stands a massive water banyan whose aerial roots have formed a forest covering about 13,000 square meters, home to tens of thousands of birds. Visitors can take a boat trip along the Tianma River to watch the birds.

Yinhuwan Wetland Park (银湖湾湿地公园)
Originally a reclaimed polder area, Yinhuwan Wetland Park now provides abundant food resources for migratory birds.

To date, more than 130 bird species have been recorded here, most of them winter visitors and passage migrants. Each year, nearly 40,000 migratory birds stop over in this park.

Nantan Island (南坦岛)
The bald cypress forest on Nantan Island provides a roosting site for flocks of egrets. At dusk, hundreds of egrets return from foraging, sometimes playing and sometimes flying in groups — a spectacular sight.
