Verditer flycatcher spotted in Yunfu

A verditer flycatcher, a protected wild bird species in China, was recently photographed in Dashigang Village, Yuncheng District, Yunfu, Guangdong.

Known for its copper-blue plumage, the bird is mainly found in southern China and is highly sensitive to environmental conditions. Photographer Yi Jiahao said he noticed a flash of bright blue moving through the forest while scouting the area. In the sunlight, the bird's feathers reflected a warm, metallic luster as he captured the moment on camera.

Yi said the bird's appearance is a direct endorsement of the improving ecological environment in Yunfu. In recent years, the city's forest coverage rate has reached 68.78 percent, while air quality has remained excellent on more than 97 percent of days each year. River management, wetland protection, and ecological restoration efforts have further enhanced local biodiversity, with a total of 270 species of terrestrial wild vertebrates recorded in the city.
