Chinese New Year guide to Guangzhou's Huadu District

Besides enjoying and purchasing flowers, the Huadu District of Guangzhou also offers various traditional cultural activities and beautiful destinations, allowing tourists to experience the authentic Chinese New Year atmosphere while admiring the blossoms.

As you step into the Maling Guanhua Botanical Garden (马岭观花植物园), a breathtaking sight will unfold before your eyes: 300,000 tulips and hydrangeas are in full bloom, forming a beautiful sea of flowers with the cascading waterfall of bougainvillea. During the Chinese New Year, there are also a variety of new entertainment projects waiting for you to explore, such as grassland camping, pet interaction, super rainbow slides, and adult ATV off-road vehicles.

Meanwhile, the Guangzhou Vanilla World (广州花卉之都) is full of vitality. Flowers of different colors are in full bloom, interweaving into a colorful and gorgeous picture. Dancers, dressed in bright costumes and holding Yingge sticks, perform ancient stories, creating a strong festive atmosphere and showcasing the rich culture of the Yingge dance.

In addition to enjoying flowers, there is also a chance to ski in Huadu. Guangzhou Bonski (广州热雪奇迹), the largest indoor ski resort in South China, boasts a snow-playing area of 17,000 m2, which offers you a rare opportunity to put on ski suits and experience the collision of speed and passion in the southern region. While having fun in the snow village, don't forget to go to Sunac Land (融创乐园) to watch "Dreaming Back to Lingnan" (梦回岭南), the first large-scale Chinese-style live action show in South China, which will be staged on the first day of the first lunar month.

Next, you can walk into Langtou Village (塱头古村). All the blue bricks, black tiles, and wood and stone carvings of the village show the unique charm of Lingnan architecture. Additionally, the restored ancestral temples and book rooms in the village are solemn and elegant, and the "Chun Yang Tai" (春阳台) Art and Cultural Center adds an air of modernity by perfectly integrating modern arts with traditional culture.

During this Chinese New Year holiday, a grand exhibition of works created by Alberto Giacometti, a world-class sculptor, will be held in the center. The ancient village will also launch festivities such as singing Hong Kong-style classic songs, making Chinese-style handicrafts for the Chinese New Year, performing lion dances, and experiencing intangible cultural heritage, allowing all visitors to feel the strong festive atmosphere.

Besides the Langtou Village, the resort at Jiulong Lake, invested in by China Tourism Group (中旅·阿那亚·九龙湖), characterized by European features, is also a good place for tourism. Its vast green mountains and forests, along with wide and flat outdoor lawns, make you feel that you are in a green world. Every snapshot here can be a forest-themed masterpiece.

Besides all the tourist attractions mentioned above, the Huadu Butterfly Valley (花都蝴蝶谷) also deserves a visit. The valley is the first eco-tourism zone in South China with the theme of science popularization and research of butterflies, insects, and nature. From January 25 to February 12, the scenic spot will invite bands and musicians to bring tourists an audio-visual feast with a Chinese style to welcome the 2025 Chinese New Year.

If you want to pick plump mulberries by yourself and know more about the mulberry trees and silkworms, come to the Huadu Baosang Garden (花都宝桑园)! During the Chinese New Year, there are also characteristic experiences such as catching chickens on the farm and making silk fans that are included in the list of intangible cultural heritage items.

Recently, "Tian Mei Xin Li" (田美新里), a commercial district in Huadu, has become popular on the Internet. The tourism spot has more than 300 mobile stalls lined up in sequence, providing visitors with a variety of special foods. In addition, it also offers tourists a chance to experience rich intangible heritage and enjoy wonderful cultural performances.

If you want to enjoy tasty food, the Tanbu Night Market (炭步圩夜市) is also a good place to go, which opened in December last year. The street, filled with the aroma of food, is always crowded with people. There are snack vendors speaking with different accents, dazzling neon signs, the sizzling sound of frying food, and the unforgettable cumin aroma of barbecue.
