In spring, Qijiang Park (岐江公园) in Zhongshan City is bursting with seasonal vitality. A vast stretch of large-leaved banyan trees (also known as Ficus virens) has sprouted tender green leaves, creating a lush and refreshing atmosphere. These trees bring greenery to the city, while the nearby Qijiang River shimmers with ripples, offering a tranquil and picturesque springtime scene.
Known for their expansive canopies and dense shade, large-leaved banyans are commonly used as shade trees in southern China. Every spring, the old leaves fall and fresh ones emerge, creating a striking display of yellow and green hues—an uncommon color transformation within the banyan species.
