On April 23, a delegation from the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), led by Deputy General Director Nguyễn Tuấn Hùng, visited South under Nanfang Media Group, Guangdong's flagship international communication outlet.

As Vietnam's official state news agency, VNA's engagement with South marks a continued deepening of ties. In 2024, Nguyễn Trọng Nghĩa, then a member of the Politburo and Chairman of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee's Commission for Information and Education, led a delegation to visit South, offering high praise for South's work.
During their visit, the VNA delegation toured South's office space, the photo exhibition of IP Guangdong, the Foreign Expert's Book House, and specialized displays dedicated to Guangdong's Intangible Cultural Heritage.

During their visit, the VNA delegation toured South's office space, the photo exhibition of IP Guangdong, the Foreign Expert's Book House, and specialized displays dedicated to Guangdong's Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The delegates expressed high recognition for South's diverse international communication achievements, particularly upon learning that South had hosted the Vietnam Pavilion at the 2025 Southern China Book Fair, Guangdong's largest book fair. They also lauded South's consistent, in-depth reporting on China-Vietnam relations and historical themes such as the exhibition "Ho Chi Minh in Guangzhou."
Reflecting on the strategic importance of the visit, Zhao Yang, member of the editorial board of Nanfang Media Group and Editor-in-Chief of South, noted that a joint statement was released the week before as the leaders of the two countries met, which emphasized the need for enhanced cooperation in media, publishing, and film.
He highlighted that Vietnam is currently Guangdong's largest trading partner within ASEAN, while Guangdong stands as Vietnam's top trading partner among the provinces of China. As an increasing number of Guangdong enterprises invest in Vietnam, Zhao Yang pointed out that South and VNA possess strong complementarities.
He expressed his hope that both parties would organize joint interviews and cultural events to further explore stories of bilateral exchange, thereby consolidating the "comrade plus brother" friendship within the context of the APEC "China Year."
Deputy General Director Nguyễn Tuấn Hùng echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the connection between Guangdong and Vietnam. He cited their geographical proximity and shared cultural customs as well as the profound historical bond formed by President Ho Chi Minh's revolutionary activities in Guangzhou and the local burial site of martyr Pham Hong Thai.
Recognizing that Guangdong is the ancestral home for many Chinese Vietnamese, Nguyễn Tuấn Hùng praised South for its significant role in promoting Guangdong's economic and social landscape while successfully navigating the challenges of the new media era.
He concluded by expressing a desire to strengthen comprehensive cooperation in information exchange and joint reporting, ultimately enhancing mutual understanding to drive all-around collaboration between the two regions.
