2024 marked the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France. At the invitation of the Alumni Association of the Sino-French School in Réunion, France, the Shantou Acrobatic Troupe traveled to Réunion, an overseas département of France, from January 28 to February 13, 2025, to participate in the local "Happy Chinese New Year" celebration.
The Acrobatic Troupe has performed 14 shows across cities such as Saint-Denis, Saint-Paul, and Saint-Bernard for local residents, overseas Chinese, government agencies, primary and secondary schools, etc.
2025 is the first heritage-tagged Chinese New Year since the "Spring Festival, social practices of the Chinese people in celebration of the traditional new year" has been inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The participation of the Shantou Acrobatic Troupe in the "Happy Chinese New Year" celebration on Réunion Island, therefore, stands as a memorable milestone.

It is understood that the Alumni Association of the Sino-French School has maintained contact with Guangdong Province for 20 consecutive years. Excluding the pandemic period, it has invited Guangdong art troupes to tour Réunion 15 times during the Chinese Spring Festival.
