Maonan Petrochemical Industrial Park in Maoming, Guangdong, is among China's Top 100 Chemical Parks for Comprehensive Competitiveness, ranking 53rd, according to the 2025 Report on the High-Quality Development of Chemical Parks recently released by the New Materials Industry Research Center of CCID Consulting.
Established in December 2009, Maonan Petrochemical Industrial Park is one of 24 chemical parks officially recognized by the Guangdong Provincial Government.
In April 2024, the Maoming Municipal Government approved a planned area of 12.87 square kilometers for the park. Focusing on six major green petrochemical sectors—oil refining, light hydrocarbon utilization, specialty oils, fine and specialty chemicals, and new chemical materials—the park aims to develop a 10,000-mu (about 667 hectares), 100-billion-yuan industrial cluster for green petrochemical innovation.
Driven by upgrades in oil refining and supported by specialty oil and light hydrocarbon processing, Maonan Petrochemical Industrial Park is cultivating a distinctive, high-end industrial cluster encompassing new chemical materials, fine chemicals, and specialty chemicals.
By December 2024, Maonan Petrochemical Industrial Park had completed approximately 9,500 mu (about 633 hectares) of development and attracted 32 chemical enterprises, including Maoming Petrochemical, Xinhua Yue, Zhonghe Chemical & Plastics, Tianyuan Petrochemical, and Maohua Shihua. The park recorded an industrial output value of 116.11 billion yuan and tax revenue of 15.29 billion yuan.
To promote high-quality industrial growth, the park has steadily increased infrastructure investment, enhanced public service facilities, and built a strong foundation and favorable environment for project development and investment.
The Top 100 evaluation system measures four key dimensions—industrial foundation, innovation, potential, and transformation—through 13 secondary and 28 tertiary indicators, including scale strength, enterprise strength, and innovation performance. This system provides a comprehensive assessment of chemical park development and guides their high-quality growth.
