A delegation of entrepreneurs and officials from the Asia-Pacific region visited Guangzhou on September 19, touring Amway's Guangzhou flagship experience center, a showcase for the health and wellness industry. They also visited the Liede International Neighborhood to see how it has been developed and managed.
At the Amway center, the delegates visited a health assessment facility, where they tried out body composition analyzers, 3D skin scanners, a fall risk assessment (FRA) system and grip strength dynamometers. The tools, which cover areas such as nutrition, weight management, metabolism and anti-aging, gave the delegates a firsthand look at Guangdong's health and wellness industry.
Claudio Henriquez, an entrepreneur from Chile, tried the body composition analyzer and said he was surprised by how quickly it produced a comprehensive body report.
Truong Cong Le Hoang, one of the delegates, said the health and wellness industry that Amway represents is a promising direction. The world is changing fast and faces problems such as pesticide pollution, he said, and Amway, as a company focused on environmental protection and health, can help address them. Vietnam is moving in the same direction, he added, and there may be room for cooperation between Guangdong and Vietnam in the future.
The delegation also toured the Liede International Neighborhood, where old and new architecture sit side by side, and visited the neighborhood museum.
Lam Ching Kuk, a young entrepreneur from Hong Kong, China said Liede has struck a very good balance between tradition and modernity. Her company also makes products that present old buildings in new ways to young people and children, she said.
She praised the redevelopment approach and said she could learn from it. Lam said Liede showed her how to better preserve traditional architecture and culture while adding new elements, and how to make traditional cultural landscapes more appealing to younger people. She added that it gave her ideas for her own products.
The delegation will continue visiting companies and startup platforms. It will also take part in an Asia-Pacific youth innovation and entrepreneurship dialogue on the afternoon of September 20, further deepening exchanges, cooperation and dialogue among young entrepreneurs and startup founders in the Asia-Pacific region.
