On May 29, Guangdong will experience heavy to torrential rainfall, with extremely heavy rain in some areas. The main rainband will move from north to south, affecting northern Guangdong, the Pearl River Delta, and then eastern Guangdong. From the evening of May 29, as the low vortex shifts east toward the sea, the overall rainfall will decrease.
On May 30 and 31, due to various fluctuations at the edge of the subtropical high over Guangdong, the lower-level wind will become southerly. Western Guangdong and southern coastal cities and counties will continue to experience significant rainfall. As the rainfall diminishes, temperatures in most areas of Guangdong will gradually rise.
On May 30, it will be cloudy with moderate (thunder) showers and locally torrential rain in the western Pearl River Estuary and western Guangdong cities and counties. The rest of the region will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers. The maximum temperature will reach 27–29℃ in southern coastal cities and counties, and 28–31℃ elsewhere.
On May 31, southern coastal cities and counties will be mostly cloudy to overcast with (thunder) showers and locally heavy rain. Other areas will remain mostly cloudy with scattered showers. The maximum temperature will be 28–31℃ in southern coastal cities and counties, and 29–32℃ elsewhere.
Guangdong has entered the "Dragon Boat Water" rainfall period. Please take precautions against heavy rainfall and the secondary disasters it may trigger.
1. Avoid wading through unknown stagnant water on the road. When driving, reduce your speed, maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, and turn on your taillights.
2. As it's the dragon boat racing period, be mindful of how severe weather might affect race viewing.
3. During severe convective weather, stay away from billboards, large trees, and temporary structures. Seek shelter in a safe indoor location during thunderstorms.
4. Due to recent continuous rainfall, residents near mountains, rivers, or slopes should monitor sudden water level rises and landslide risks and evacuate promptly if necessary.
All regions should guard against mountain torrents, small-and medium-sized river floods, and urban and rural waterlogging caused by short-term heavy rainfall. Additionally, special attention should be paid to the increased disaster risks in Shaoguan, Qingyuan, Maoming, and the northern Pearl River Delta due to ongoing heavy rain overlapping with previous rainfall. It's also necessary to monitor the impacts of upstream water inflow and local rainfall on the main river basins in Guangdong Province.
