Located on the coast of eastern Guangdong, Shantou is accelerating the development of its offshore wind power industry to create new opportunities for the blue economy. By the end of 2025, three major offshore wind farms—Datang Nan'ao Lemen I, Huaneng Lemen II, and the Datang Lemen I Extension—are expected to be completed, with a combined installed capacity of 1.2 million kilowatts, reinforcing Guangdong's leading position nationwide.

Shantou is building a comprehensive offshore wind power industrial chain, including the world's first "four-in-one" industrial park that integrates R&D, manufacturing, testing, and certification. Its coastal test base ranks among the world's most advanced. The construction of wind power–dedicated berths at Guang'ao Port is also progressing to support an export hub for Southeast Asia.

The city is improving its industrial ecosystem by pioneering the "wind power–fishery integration" model. With the commissioning of the Shengtang No. 1 marine ranch, Shantou has enabled the integration of offshore wind power and aquaculture. At the same time, it is advancing diversified applications such as "wind power + hydrogen production," promoting zero-carbon industrial parks.

In addition, Shantou is strengthening international cooperation by hosting the World Wind Energy Conference (WWEC) 2025, establishing global collaboration mechanisms, and creating a service base to support the international expansion of China's wind power industry.
Looking ahead, the city will focus on deep-sea wind power, build a 100-billion-yuan new energy cluster, and aim to become a world-class hub for offshore wind equipment.
