Not long ago, the 2025 "Happy Chinese New Year" activity, jointly hosted by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Portuguese Republic and Lisbon City Hall, and organized by an overseas Chinese association in Portugal, kicked off at Alameda Dom Afonso Henriques in Lisbon.
With the theme of "Ancestral Land in Lingnan, Zen Capital's Overseas Chinese Gifts", the Yunfu Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese meticulously selected 110 distinctive Yunfu cultural and creative products in five categories, including intangible cultural heritage lacquer artworks, wood carvings, olive pit carvings and Luoding Zhulan tea, to participate in the "Happy Chinese New Year" Chinese Cultural and Creative Exhibition.
During the event, Lisbon was filled with a strong atmosphere of the Chinese New Year. The activities comprised spectacular performances, such as processions and square shows, as well as various exhibition halls showcasing culture and food. Many overseas Chinese and local Portuguese people were drawn to experience the unique allure of Chinese culture together.
Among these exhibits, the Yunfu cultural and creative products, with their distinct charm and superb craftsmanship, fully manifested the elegance of Chinese Lingnan culture, winning the warm admiration and high praise of numerous Portuguese people.
It is noted that the "Happy Chinese New Year" celebrations are a grand event in Portugal, serving as a cultural carnival celebrated and shared by both overseas Chinese and local Portuguese people. This year, the 12th "Happy Chinese New Year" in Portugal will be held in the central, northern, and southern cities of Portugal from February 1st during the Chinese New Year, lasting for half a month.
