Final Taekwondo qualifying event for 15th National Games kicks off in Huizhou

On June 17, the second and final qualifying event for the Taekwondo competition of the 15th National Games of China began at Huizhou Gymnasium. On the opening day, Chen Tianhui and Zhang Yinyin secured their spots in the women's +67kg final, while Huang Jincheng and Wang Nuoyan clinched qualification in the men's -58kg category.

The qualification tournament features eight weight divisions: for men, -58kg, -68kg, -80kg, and +80kg; for women, -49kg, -57kg, -67kg, and +67kg. According to the competition rules, the top two athletes in each category will advance to the National Games final, totaling 16 final berths.

The Huizhou stop marks the last opportunity for athletes who have not yet secured qualification to reach the National Games final stage. The competition runs from June 17 to 20 and serves as the final showdown before the main event.
