China's domestically produced C919 jetliner completed its first commercial flight to a regional airport on June 4, operated by China Southern Airlines. Flight CZ3383 departed Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport at 10:21 pm and landed safely at Nanyang Jiangying Airport in Henan Province, central China, just before midnight, carrying 139 passengers.
The flight marks the C919's debut on a regional route and represents a key step in integrating the jet into China's broader civil aviation network. More than a symbolic milestone, the event establishes Nanyang Jiangying Airport as a new training and operations base for the C919, signaling its expanding role in the commercial fleet of China Southern Airlines.

Over the following two days, the airline will conduct intensive training sessions at the airport, including takeoff and landing drills, executed by a team of veteran captains and instructor pilots. Data from the exercises will be used to further assess the jet's performance and fine-tune coordination with airport ground services.
Beyond its initial mission, the C919 will continue to operate from Nanyang for routine training, technical assessments, and occasional commercial routes. With more C919 jets set to join China Southern Airlines' growing fleet, the aircraft is poised to become a fixture on both trunk and regional routes.
