In 2015, Nanhai's GDP stood at 222.7 billion yuan. By 2024, it had surpassed 400 billion yuan for the first time, nearly doubling in value.

Nanhai is the first district in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to champion a humanistic economy. Since 2024, it has been redefining its development model and revitalizing growth through human-centered principles.

In recent years, Nanhai has been actively advancing the "High-Quality Development Project for Guangdong Counties, Towns and Villages," continuously unlocking the vitality of its local communities and reshaping regional value.
1 Trillion Yuan
Advanced manufacturing is Nanhai's defining hallmark. In 2023, the district's total industrial output exceeded one trillion yuan, making it one of the few county-level regions in China to reach this milestone.
"Three Highs and Four News"
This refers to high-tech manufacturing, high-quality services, and high-level agriculture, as well as new energy industries, new materials, next-generation electronic information, and new biopharmaceuticals.
Seven Lakes, Three Bays, One Station, One Garden
These include Qiandeng Lake, Wenhan Lake, Yingyue Lake, Tingyin Lake, Xianhu Lake, Bo'ai Lake, and Lihu Lake; Rulin Bay, Nanhai Bay, and Guangfo Bay; Foshan West Railway Station; and Nanguo Peach Garden.
Three Guides, Three Managements, Three EnhancementsThis encompasses Party, cultural and volunteer guidance; the management of people, affairs, and self-governance; as well as improving public services, enhancing smart governance efficiency, and promoting social civility.
"1123" Cultural Project
This initiative aims to build the core IP of "Xiqiao Mountain Culture," advance the "Waterborne Nanhai" development strategy, establish new hubs for performing arts and cultural-tourism consumption in the Greater Bay Area, and create three flagship events—the "Land Art Festival," "Dragon Super League," and "Xuyouji (Market Journey)."
Three Belts and Three Zones
Leveraging three cultural belts—the Yushui Official Post Road, Sangyuanwei, and the Guangzhou–Foshan Thoroughfare—Nanhai is focusing on the development of three vitality zones: the Qiandeng Lake Central Zone, the Dataoyuan Industrial–City Zone, and the Ring Qiao Mountain Rural Zone.
Kunpeng Talent Initiative
Nanhai has been steadily developing its "Kunpeng Talent" brand. By October 2025, the district had attracted over 660,000 professionals, including 115 national-level experts and 518 high-level talent teams.
