Eastern Guangdong Intercity Railway reaches key milestone

The construction of the Eastern Guangdong Intercity Railway reaches a major milestone with beam installation completed on the main line between Chaozhou East and Chaoshan stations on August 31, paving the way for track laying and bringing the region closer to its goal of creating a "30-minute commuting circle."

The Eastern Guangdong Intercity Railway is a key regional transport project designed to connect the central urban areas of Shantou, Chaozhou and Jieyang. By linking major regional transport hubs such as Shantou Station and Chaoshan Station, the railway will make daily commuting and cross-city travel faster and more convenient.

Once completed, the railway will shorten travel times among Shantou, Chaozhou and Jieyang, and strengthen connections between eastern Guangdong, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and neighboring provinces.

The improved network is expected to boost regional integration and economic development and make travel more convenient for millions of people in eastern Guangdong.
