"I'm very happy to join the carnival. In the past, I only ate canned lychee. Today, I tasted fresh lychees picked right from the tree – it's so much better than canned!" said Alan, who is originally from Scotland and has been teaching English in Huizhou for 13 years. On the morning of June 19, he participated in the 2025 Huicheng District Lychee Carnival in Huizhou.
The carnival featured both online livestreams and offline fruit-picking experiences. During the livestream, 240 free picking vouchers and 28 boxes of lychees were snapped up within an hour by eager viewers. On-site, residents and tourists flocked to the orchards to take photos among the lush lychee groves, pick the fruit by hand, and enjoy its fresh, tree-ripened sweetness.
This year, Huicheng District's total lychee cultivation area reached 15,700 mu (approximately 1,047 hectares). Premium varieties such as Guiwei, Nuomici, and Feizixiao are in peak season, with an estimated total yield of around 5,500 tons.
