The APEC Policy Partnership on Science, Technology, and Innovation (PPSTI) opened its 27th meeting in Guangdong's Guangzhou on February 1, 2026.
The meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China and marks the first official event for China as the APEC host in 2026 in the field of sci-tech innovation. It brought together approximately 100 representatives from governments, businesses, academia, the APEC Secretariat, and guest international organizations across APEC member economies.

The PPSTI theme for 2026 is "Fostering an Open and Collaborative Innovation Ecosystem for Resilient Growth in the Asia-Pacific."
Discussions during the meeting centered on the latest developments and future plans for APEC science and technology cooperation, as well as matters related to PPSTI's institutional development.
A side event was also organized, bringing together public and private sector representatives to discuss how digital transformation can empower small and medium-sized enterprises for more balanced, sustainable, and inclusive growth.
Additionally, delegates visited XPeng Motors Science Park to gain firsthand insight into China's integrated approach to scientific innovation and industrial development.
