Shenzhen leads in e-commerce pilot zone construction

Shenzhen's cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zone has been selected by the Ministry of Commerce into the highest echelon for three consecutive years in terms of comprehensive construction progress.

The evaluation encompasses over 40 indicators, including the implementation of the comprehensive pilot area plan, establishment of work systems, implementation of facilitation policies, annual imports and exports, growth of annual exports, and building of overseas locations and industrial campuses.

Market entities are the main force in industrial development. Shenzhen is home to over 80,000 cross-border e-commerce entities, accounting for about 50% of the national total. In 2023, its gross merchandise volume (GMV) exceeded 800 billion yuan. In the first half of this year, Shenzhen saw a remarkable 130% year-on-year surge in the imports and exports of cross-border e-commerce.

The city has established a range of logistics routes, including "Maritime Shipping Route," "China-Europe Railway Express," and "Air Corridors," weaving together a comprehensive logistics network that spans the entire region.

This year, Shenzhen Airport has expanded its international reach by inaugurating 18 new cargo routes, elevating the total number of international and regional all-cargo flight destinations to 38, which include 11 dedicated cross-border e-commerce air freight routes. Meanwhile, Shenzhen Port has developed a total of 28 cross-border e-commerce maritime express routes, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) China-Europe and China-Laos freight trains have collectively launched 19 export routes.

Nanshan District in Shenzhen has seen rapid growth in the cross-border e-commerce sector, featuring platforms like Amazon and Shopee, key sellers such as Suntek and Makeblock, and service enterprises including Jiumi and Shoplazza. Its globally leading information service industry and the aggregation of talented professionals have fostered a thriving cross-border e-commerce industry.

Nanshan assists enterprises in expanding their marketing networks and establishing logistics warehousing bases internationally. It promotes the establishment of digital platforms abroad and expedites the development of a regional cross-border e-commerce supply chain system.
