Guangzhou Medical University Overseas Medical Training Center in Türkiye inaugurated

On May 8, at the 8th Istanbul Urolithiasis Days attended by 354 professional doctors from 23 countries, President Zhao Xingcun of Guangzhou Medical University (GMU) officially announced the establishment of the "Guangzhou Medical University Overseas Medical Training Center (Türkiye)."

The GMU team and the team from the University of Health Sciences of Türkiye have jointly formulated eight international guidelines and consensus documents and co-founded the International Urolithiasis Alliance.

President Zhao Xingcun reviewed the fruitful cooperation between the two sides over the years. He emphasized that the core mission of the overseas medical training center is to export medical technologies, with the aim of promoting the international application of China's advanced medical expertise.

Vice President Yunnus Karakoc stated that the establishment of the Guangzhou Medical University Overseas Medical Training Center will help enhance the medical skills and professional standards of Turkish doctors, ultimately benefiting more patients.

During the visit, GMU held its first percutaneous nephrolithotomy and flexible ureteroscopy workshop at the overseas medical training center, featuring live surgical demonstrations and on-site Q&A sessions.

Moreover, at the 8th Istanbul Urolithiasis Days, Professor Zeng Guohua's team delivered special presentations, sharing the latest research findings and clinical experiences. Experts from countries such as Russia highly commended the overseas medical training center model and expressed their hope to replicate it in their own countries in the future.

President Zhao Xingcun and his delegation were invited to visit the University of Health Sciences of Türkiye, where they signed a strategic agreement on cooperation for the training center.

Subsequently, the GMU delegation held friendly discussions with Vice President Yunnus Karakoc, deans of the medical college, and relevant department heads of HSUT. Both sides reached a consensus on cooperation in areas such as student and teacher exchange internships, and scientific research collaboration.

The GMU delegation also visited Sancaktepe Research and Training Hospital, where they held talks with the hospital's director, Yakup Siileymanoglu, and other relevant department heads on strengthening clinical and scientific research cooperation.
