China Railway Guangzhou Group Co., Ltd. reported that it transported 28.372 million passengers, a year-on-year increase of 3%, hitting a record high in the history of the Spring Festival travel rush.
During the holiday from January 28 to February 4, the railway witnessed a large number of people returning home and traveling to celebrate the Year of the Snake. The day of February 4 saw the peak of the return passenger flow during the travel rush.

Guangzhou South Railway Station sent a total of 3.108 million passengers, an increase of 2.1% compared to the Spring Festival in 2024. Shenzhen Railway Station sent 3.224 million passengers, an increase of 2% compared to the 2024 Spring Festival.
During the 8-day holiday, a total of 25,280 trains were operated, with an average of 3,160 trains per day, an increase of 231 trains per day compared to 2024, up 7.9%. Among them, an average of 307 additional high-speed trains were operated daily, an increase of 84 trains year-on-year, up 37.6%. Additionally, 946 night-time high-speed trains were operated, a year-on-year increase of 382 trains, up 67.7%.
This was the first Spring Festival travel rush after the renovation and expansion of Shantou Station and Wuchuan Station. Shantou Station handled a total of 994,000 passengers, an increase of 269,000 passengers compared to the same period in 2024, up 37%. Wuchuan Station operated an average of 30 trains per day, with a total of 73,000 passengers arriving and departing.
Since the opening of the high-speed railway from Meizhou to Longchuan, the Meilong High-Speed Railway, in September 2024, a total of 168,000 passengers were sent during this holiday.
