An open and cooperative China benefits the Asia-Pacific and the world

Today, a growing number of journalists from overseas media outlets are visiting different parts of China to gain insights into the country's development. Many have observed that the latest achievements of Chinese modernization offer a compelling example for the world while creating important opportunities for development across the Asia-Pacific. Committed to high-standard opening-up and sustained international cooperation, China will continue to inject stability and positive momentum into the development and prosperity of the Asia-Pacific and the wider world.

APEC economic and trade cooperation continues to deliver benefits

In early August, the 16th China International Animation Copyright Fair was held in Shipai Town, Dongguan. At the Thailand Pavilion, Thai art-toy IPs such as "Chao Chok" and the little girl character "My Day" caught the attention of buyers.

Speaking in fluent Chinese, Fang Yishan, an agent for IGNITE World Public Company Limited, said the company's products were designed in Thailand and manufactured in Dongguan, and that the partnership had run for nearly a decade. She described the fair as a rare showcase for Thai art-toy brands, adding that the atmosphere was excellent and that she would definitely return the following year.

Across China, APEC-related economic and trade activities are flourishing, and the benefits of cooperation and development continue to materialize. In the first seven months of this year, China's trade in goods with other APEC economies reached 18.03 trillion yuan, up 21 percent year on year and outpacing the growth of China's overall merchandise trade during the same period. China is now the largest trading partner of 13 APEC economies.

Wu Hao, publisher of the Russian-language edition of "China Newsweek," said that Chinese products such as electric passenger vehicles, lithium-ion batteries and solar cells have performed strongly in the Russian market. In the first half of this year, Chinese-brand passenger vehicles recorded sales of approximately 360,000 units in Russia, accounting for more than half of the Russian market. Meanwhile, artificial intelligence, robots and innovative medicines, collectively known as China's "new new three," have also made inroads into the Moscow market and are emerging as new hallmarks of Chinese exports.

Steady progress in developing APEC cooperation mechanisms

On August 20, the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China and the National Customs Service of Chile formally signed a memorandum of understanding on customs-to-customs cooperation between Shenzhen Customs and Valparaíso Customs.

The agreement aims to strengthen the China-Chile smart customs cooperation partnership by establishing mechanisms for information sharing and mutual assistance in enforcement, while expanding cooperation on the mutual recognition of Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status, improving customs clearance efficiency and supporting enterprise credit development.

Miguel Canala-Echeverría, general manager of Frutas de Chile, said cooperation between the ports of Valparaíso and Shenzhen would not only boost Chile's fruit trade but also promote technological exchanges, benefiting businesses and consumers in both countries.

In recent years, relevant Chinese government departments have steadily broadened and deepened their engagement in APEC cooperation. China has supported the establishment of several APEC-related mechanisms in the country, such as the APEC E-Commerce Business Alliance, the APEC Center for Technology Transfer and the APEC SME Service Alliance.

Chen Lin, president of Canada's "SOLO Magazine", has observed that as APEC cooperation mechanisms become increasingly diverse, the practical experience and technological strengths China has accumulated through scientific and technological innovation and industrial upgrading are benefiting other APEC economies through regional exchanges and cooperation.
