The 48th WorldSkills Competition "Hotel Reception" Hengqin International Invitational recently concluded in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.
The 3-day event brought together young competitors from regions and countries such as the Chinese mainland, the Macao SAR, the Hong Kong SAR, Brazil, the Philippines, Romania and Uzbekistan.

After 3 days of competition, first prize went to Dupaya Lany Ann from the Hong Kong SAR. Wang Jiayi from the Chinese mainland and Natalia Da Rosa Corso from Brazil shared second prize. Third prize went to Li Yuxia from the Chinese mainland, La La Chan from the Macao SAR and David George Muhulet from Romania. Merit awards went to Sandra Chan from the Macao SAR, Jan Andrea C. Zaguirre from the Philippines and Jahongir Akobirov from Uzbekistan.
The competition followed WorldSkills' official assessment system, recreating an authentic competition environment. Participants competed in 4 core modules: front-desk reception, back-office writing, rapid response and team assessment.
Their skills were tested through a wide range of real-world tasks, including check-in and check-out procedures, complaint handling, responses on online travel agency platforms, local tourism and cultural promotion, cross-cultural communication as well as teamwork.
The invitational was co-hosted by the Talent Development and Social Security Bureau of the Cooperation Zone, the Labour Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and Macao University of Tourism.
