Light festival lights up Guangzhou, even giant Ao Fish made its limited-time return

As the 15th National Games draws to a close, Guangzhou embraces another grand event.

On the evening of November 16, the 2025 Guangzhou International Light Festival officially kicked off, with brilliant lights illuminating both banks of the Pearl River and instantly turning Guangzhou's CBD into a "cyber city."

The giant "Ao Fish" that amazed the world at the opening ceremony of the 15th National Games swam into the Light Festival venue this time. With its vivid and agile posture, the Ao Fish delivered an unparalleled visual impact to the audience.

The banana leaf art installation that floated in the air at the opening ceremony of the 15th National Games also became an installation art piece at this Light Festival. The green banana leaves, suspended above the fountains, resemble a flowing ink wash painting scroll.

This time, the Light Festival coincides with the 15th National Games and the 32nd Guangzhou Garden Expo—three grand events gathered in Guangzhou and engaged in deep synergy. The experience of "appreciating flowers by day, enjoying lights at night, and savoring sports events all day long" will surely treat citizens to a visual feast.
