A wide range of cultural and leisure events will take place across the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin during the upcoming May Day holiday. Organizers have released detailed schedules and venues covering technology exhibitions, theme park entertainment, and family-oriented activities.
The headline event, titled the 2026 Hengqin-Macao International Digital Art Expo, runs from April 27 to May 10 at the Hengqin Culture & Art Complex. The exhibition is divided into four themed sections, showcasing digital installations, AI-generated content, and immersive heritage projects.
In parallel, the ArtBiz Asia photography exhibition, The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Through the Lens, will be held from May 1 to May 11 at Tianhui Star Art Space in Hengqin, presenting 25 works focused on regional urban life.

Tourist attractions across the island are also staging timed programs. At Chimelong Ocean Kingdom, the “Ocean International Music Season” runs throughout May, with daily performances including a sunset concert at around 18:00 and a drone and fireworks show at 20:00. Nearby, Chimelong Hengqin Bay Water World reopened on April 25 for the summer season, offering both indoor and outdoor water facilities. A newborn orca will make its public debut on May 1 at Chimelong Spaceship Park.
At Novotown, a series of interactive competitions will take place in the West Zone atrium. A mahjong tournament and a novelty slipper contest are scheduled for May 1–2, followed by a 60-minute craft challenge on May 3–4.

Family-focused programs are also running throughout the month. The National Geographic Ultimate Explorer Hengqin is hosting a “Treasure Hunt” event from now until May 31, alongside screenings of the wildlife documentary Queens of the Wild during May.
Outdoor and cultural learning activities are concentrated around the start of the holiday. A guided nature workshop will be held on the morning of May 1 at Station No. 2 of the Flower Sea Corridor, while the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Cultural Experience Museum at the Hengqin Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park is offering daily wellness sessions at 11:00 and 15:00, plus interactive heritage-themed activities from May 1 to 5.

Evening entertainment is centered at Hengqin Sumlodol Camping Park, where a themed program runs during the holiday. Daytime water-based activities are paired with nightly shows featuring drone performances, iron-fire displays, and lantern parades, typically staged after sunset.
