Dongguan dressed for the New Year

As the Chinese New Year approaches, the city of Dongguan has been transformed into a dazzling display of vibrant decorations, immersing every corner in joyous festivities. From glimmering lanterns to colorful floral arrangements, each town showcases unique styles to celebrate the Spring Festival.  

Songshan Lake  

Songshan Lake shines brightly with its elegant blend of technology and tradition. Red lanterns sway gently along Libin Road, their vivid hue lighting up lush green trees. The central park boasts a riot of colors with blooming flowers, while iconic installations, such as art sculptures on Xincheng Road and displays at the ULand Cultural and Art Park, have become hotspots for photography. At night, reflections from the lake add a dreamy glow to the already picturesque scenery.  

Hengli Town  

Hengli town celebrates with thousands of red lanterns and traditional Chinese knots hanging from trees along Zhongshan Road and Yanjiang Road. Key landmarks, such as Jinniu Park, feature snake-themed decorations in honor of the Year of the Snake, symbolizing prosperity. Vibrant light displays illuminate the town, creating a dazzling nighttime spectacle. Residents describe the streets as "overflowing with warmth and New Year charm." 

Shipai Town  

Shipai town lights up in a dazzling array of colors, with trees draped in twinkling lights that resemble colorful snakes, adding a playful touch to the festive atmosphere. As night falls, the streets are filled with shimmering lights that create a joyful and celebratory mood.

Shilong Town 

Shilong's festive spirit comes alive at popular spots like Jinshawan Square, Zhongshan Park, and the Dongguan Railway Station plaza. Intricate flowerbeds themed with Chinese New Year motifs captivate visitors, while red lanterns and vibrant decorations line the streets. Villages like Xihu and Huangjiashan also join the festivities, showcasing local traditions and adding to the town's lively atmosphere.  

Shatian Town

Shatian embraces its riverside charm with lanterns and floral arrangements adorning the streets and parks. Dragon Boat Park takes center stage with a magnificent "Snake Dances with Dragon" light display that blends local culture with festive wishes. At night, the glowing lanterns and colorful lights reflect beautifully on the river, creating a mesmerizing experience.  

Machong Town

Machong highlights its Lingnan heritage with decorations spanning its wetlands, bridges, and cultural plazas. Red lanterns, festive flowerbeds, and traditional art installations cover major roads such as Machong Avenue, Guangma Avenue and Xinghua Road. Popular sites like Huayang Lake National Wetland Park and the Lingnan Watertown Cultural and Arts Center add to the town's rich New Year ambiance.  

Dalingshan Town

Dalingshan's streets and public spaces radiate a kaleidoscope of colors. Main roads and commercial hubs are adorned with spring-themed light displays, which come alive at night to form stunning urban landscapes.

Key areas such as Dalingshan Square, library, and the Sports Park are dressed in elaborate lighting, creating a mesmerizing atmosphere for all who pass by. The town's decorations reflect a harmonious blend of traditional elements and modern aesthetics, offering residents and visitors a warm welcome.  

Houjie Town

Houjie town has transformed its streets into a festive paradise. Major roads like the S256 Provincial Road and Houjie Avenue are lined with cheerful red lanterns, adding a lively glow to the streets. Furthermore, Houjie features large creative light displays for the Year of the Snake, combining modern artistry with traditional symbols like lanterns and Chinese knots.
