Guangzhou has introduced a special themed bus to promote China’s upcoming 15th National Games, set to take place across the Greater Bay Area later this year. The bus debuted on June 28 at a public event in Haizhu District.
The bus serves as a mobile exhibition, featuring sports memorabilia and interactive challenges. It will tour neighborhoods, schools, and businesses to encourage community participation in the games. Visitors can take photos with event mascots on a replica winner's podium or purchase themed merchandise onboard.
Five-time nunchaku world champion Lü Yijie and trampoline gold medalist Cai Qizi attended the launch. Lü demonstrated martial arts skills while Cai led fitness activities. Both athletes engaged the crowd in boxing and drone football games. "Events like this make sports accessible," noted Lü. Cai, a Guangzhou native, expressed pride in promoting athletics in her hometown.
An outdoor sports market operated alongside the bus launch, offering archery and mini-golf trials. Costumed characters, including cartoon figures, interacted with families. The official mascots "Xi Yangyang" (Joyful Goat) and "Le Rongrong" (Happy Fusion) joined the festivities.
This marks the first in a series of community events. The bus will circulate through Guangzhou districts in the coming weeks before the games begin.
