China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN) recently completed the installation of its first 18-megawatt ultra-large offshore wind turbine at the 1-gigawatt Fanshi II offshore wind power project in Yangjiang, South China's Guangdong Province.

Once completed, the project will realize the large-scale application of 18-MW-class offshore wind turbines in China. The milestone is expected to significantly propel the domestic offshore wind power industry into a new phase of high-quality development, characterized by larger capacity, higher efficiency and lower costs, it said.

The newly installed 18-MW ultra-large turbine boasts the largest single-unit capacity among all CGN wind power projects, both currently in operation and under construction, said the company.
