A chili farm in Chiguang Town, Longchuan County, Heyuan (河源市龙川县赤光镇), is thriving this autumn. Lush green chili peppers hang from the plants, signaling a promising harvest. Harvesting across the farm is expected to peak in about two weeks.

Chili farming is labor-intensive, creating employment opportunities for nearby residents. Since it began operating, the farm has employed local villagers in seedling cultivation, field management and harvesting.

The farm can yield 22.5 to 30 metric tons of chilies per hectare. Its chilies go to markets across Guangdong, and buyers from several other provinces, including Jiangxi, Hunan, Hubei and Sichuan, have signed letters of intent with the farm.
