Two foreign friends in Zhanjiang receive Guangdong Friendship Award

The Second Guangdong Friendship Award ceremony was recently held in Guangzhou. Haryono Lim, Chairman and President of BASF Greater China and Frederic Barbier, General Manager of SGD Asia Pacific, both recommended by Zhanjiang, were among the foreign nationals honored with the award.

Lim and his team brought the BASF Zhanjiang Verbund site—a project with a total investment of approximately €8.7 billion and BASF's largest single overseas investment to date—to full operation this year. He has also been a strong advocate for community development, actively supporting biodiversity conservation and participating in community activities.

Barbier helped Zhanjiang establish international friendship exchange ties with two cities in France. He also supported the Chinese-French production of the documentary "Panda of the Sea," which showcases Zhanjiang's Chinese white dolphins, and the compilation of the popular science picture book "Zhanjiang Mangroves—A Sea Forest," both of which were selected as Guangdong's 2026 International Communication Annual Cases.
