On July 19th, Hengqin hosted a conference on the collaboration of industry, academia, research, and finance between Macao and Hengqin. More than 50 technological enterprises and venture capital institutions participated in this activity, and 4 Macao universities signed contracts with 16 renowned enterprises and institutions.

At present, the cooperation zone has attracted a considerable amount of Macao-capital scientific enterprises, among which companies specializing in scientific research and technical services accumulate over 1200, including 268 national high-tech companies, 16 of which are Macao-capital enterprises. The settlement of these high-quality technological innovation enterprises in Hengqin introduces an R&D orientation clearly outlined by market needs, thus promoting the in-depth integration of Macao-Hengqin technological innovation and industrial development.

The University of Macau and the Macau University of Science and Technology have already established research institutes in Hengqin to facilitate the conversion of production, study and research. The two institutes have set up 15 institute-enterprise joint laboratories with Hengqin enterprises specializing in areas such as integrated circuits and TCM, etc., and have initiated 185 scientific research projects at the provincial level or above. Following this event, the City University of Macau and the University of Saint Joseph Macao will also establish industry-academia-research bases in Hengqin.
