On April 23, Liangkou Town in Guangzhou's Conghua District launched the "Qingmei Zhuma" (Plum & Bamboo Horse) series to promote the integration of agriculture, culture, and tourism.
Liangkou boasts stunning natural treasures, including seven peaks soaring over 1,000 meters, 50,000 mu (3,333 hectares) of lush bamboo forests, and nearly 10,000 mu of blooming plum groves. Adding to its global allure are landmarks such as the National Archives Guangzhou Branch and the Hong Kong Jockey Club's Conghua Racecourse, which provide the town with both natural beauty and international prestige.
Visitors can immerse themselves in seasonal wonders—spring azaleas, summer waterfalls, autumn maples, and winter "snow-like" plum blossoms—while enjoying activities like bamboo shoot harvesting, rafting, and savoring local delicacies such as Liuxi River fish and plum wine.
A standout feature of the event is the launch of the illustrated Liangkou Tourist Map, which showcases six themed routes highlighting ecology, stargazing, gastronomy, and more. Designed to guide visitors through immersive rural experiences, the map arrives just in time as excitement builds for the permanent horse racing events at Conghua Racecourse, set to begin in 2026.
Running through June, the festival will bring cultural initiatives to life through bamboo weaving (an intangible cultural heritage), plum product innovation, and equestrian tourism—helping to build a vibrant cultural-industrial ecosystem. Upcoming highlights include eco-friendly plum workshops and equine culture programs on school campuses.
