Maluan Subdistrict is a vibrant place in Pingshan District that blends ecology, history, culture, and technology. From Maluan Mountain and the Dawan Ancestral Residence to Shenzhen Pingshan Changshou Dramaville and the BYD headquarters, there is much to discover. 

Now, with a Chinese-English bilingual map in hand, exploring these landmarks in Maluan Subdistrict has never been easier.

The Maluan Subdistrict International Block Bilingual Map, produced and released by the Maluan Subdistrict Management and Service Center for Expats, is beautifully illustrated, highlighting the subdistrict's picturesque landscapes combined with modern urban elements, artistry, and culture.

In addition to marking iconic tourist spots and recommended restaurants, the map also shows Shenzhen Metro and SkyShuttle stations, helipads, and community health service centers. 

It also lists the Walking Pingshan (坪山全域自然博物) WeChat mini-program code. Through this mini-program, users can access maps and guides for walking trails in Pingshan, along with hundreds of spots ideal for observing and learning about biodiversity.

On the back page of the bilingual map, four recommended travel routes are provided, offering diverse travel experiences for tourists.

According to staff from the Maluan Subdistrict Management and Service Center for Expats, the locations featured on the bilingual map were chosen based on past events held at the Maluan Subdistrict International Block. These fun or impressive places are favored by expats and carefully considered by international volunteers in the subdistrict.

This map initiative reflects Maluan Subdistrict’s commitment to developing an inclusive international block, fostering mutual understanding among people from diverse cultural backgrounds, and paving the way for improved services and a more harmonious community in the future.

Iconic spots in Maluan Subdistrict 

Maluan Mountain Country Park | 马峦山郊野公园

Maluan Mountain is renowned for its large waterfalls, historic Hakka villages, breathtaking natural scenery, and thousands of species. As a vast mountain area, it offers something for every visitor — whether you’re seeking a multi-hour trek or a leisurely walk through the woods.

Several trails provide diverse adventures and encounters with varying landscapes. The May Day holiday is an ideal time to view waterfalls in the mountain.

Shenzhen Pingshan Changshou Dramaville | 深圳坪山长守戏剧谷

The Shenzhen Pingshan Changshou Dramaville is nestled in lush surroundings to the northeast of Maluan Mountain, with the Chi’ao Reservoir to the east. 

Renovations have preserved the 300-year-old Changshou Village’s historical charm while transforming it into a dynamic venue for drama performances, cultural exchanges, and artistic events.

During the May Day holiday, visitors can enjoy concerts, exhibitions, kylin dances, drama workshops, and Hakka-themed events at the dramaville.

Dawan Ancestral Residence | 大万世居

Built in 1791, the Dawan Ancestral Residence is a well-preserved Hakka-style square compound. Covering 25,000 square meters, it showcases ancient defensive ingenuity alongside the harmony and structure of Hakka family life.

Now it has been renovated into a cultural base featuring Hakka food, crafts, and creative products. Alongside exhibitions on Hakka culture, modern art exhibitions, bazaars, light shows, workshops, and concerts are regularly held.

Pingshan Sports Center gymnasium | 坪山体育中心体育馆

Renovations have recently been completed at the Pingshan Sports Center gymnasium, making it ready to host rhythmic gymnastics events for the 15th National Games, scheduled for Nov. 9-21 in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao.

The gymnasium features sleek steel framing and a dome, giving it a futuristic appearance that resembles a UFO. After the 15th National Games, the gymnasium will be open to the public for basketball, badminton, and other activities.

Pingshan Sculpture Art and Creative Park | 坪山雕塑艺术创意园

Blending natural beauty with artistic creativity, Pingshan Sculpture Art and Creative Park has been a subvenue of the China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair for many years.

Today, it thrives as an artistic community that incorporates creative studios, leisure amenities, and commerce, attracting countless art and culture enthusiasts.

Shenzhen Natural History Museum | 深圳自然博物馆

Located in the Yanzi Lake area, the Shenzhen Natural History Museum, which is under construction, covers an area of 42,000 square meters. 

Nestled among hills, wetlands, and the Pingshan River, this museum is poised to become the first large-scale, comprehensive natural history museum in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and southern China.

Upon its expected completion in late 2025, it will house extensive natural history collections, display specimens, and facilitate research and education.
