The 2025 Cambridge Dragon Boat Festival was held on the shimmering waters of the River Cam in Cambridge, UK, on June 8 (London time). As the only team from China, the Xiagong Mazu Hexing Dragon Boat Team from Heping Town, Chaoyang District, Shantou, claimed the championship.
The event featured a total of 12 teams. The Chaoyang team, comprised of local dragon boat enthusiasts, impressed the crowd with their synchronized paddling and powerful rhythm. Their dynamic teamwork and resilient spirit vividly embodied the Chinese dragon boat ethos of "pulling together in times of trouble and forging ahead in unity."
In addition to the competition, the organizers hosted an intangible cultural heritage bazaar, where the Shantou team presented a variety of cultural and creative products. Exquisite oil paper lantern pendants, innovative Kung Fu tea sets that blend tradition with modernity, and creative souvenirs such as fridge magnets, keychains, and building block toys infused with Shantou cultural elements attracted numerous international visitors and became a wonderful cultural highlight.
