"Walk through Tongji Bridge, and you'll have no misfortune." Every Lantern Festival, residents and tourists carry pinwheels and lettuce as they walk across Tongji Bridge, praying for a safe and smooth new year.

In Foshan's Nanhai, there is a custom of jumping over fire. People light a big fire and jump over it to pray for the removal of bad luck and the arrival of good fortune.

During the Lantern Festival, Foshan's Shunde holds a Fish Lantern Festival. Residents carry colorful and differently-shaped fish lanterns through the streets, competing in beauty.

In Foshan's Gaoming, there is a custom of lighting a lamp when a new baby is born. Families with new additions light lamps in the order of birth and hold a lamp wine party.

In Foshan's Sanshui, there is a custom of burning a brick pagoda. Every year, bricks are added to the old pagoda, symbolizing a better life each year.
