Event held to promote cultural exchange between Uruguay and Guangzhou

A cultural exchange event featuring Uruguayan cuisine was held by the Consulate General of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay in Guangzhou on March 19.

The event invited guests to taste Uruguayan dishes, such as Baked Beef Empanadas and Gaucho-Style Steak with Chimichurri Sauce, which were made with ingredients from Uruguay.

"Uruguay is a traditional food producer and exporter known for the freshness and high quality of its products," said Facundo Simón Fernandez Guerra, Consul General of Uruguay in Guangzhou, in his opening remarks. He elaborated that Uruguay primarily exports agricultural, livestock, and dairy products worldwide, such as beef, cheese, jam, wine, and caviar.

"The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is also a very important market for Uruguay, representing a high quality of life and strong purchasing power. Uruguay primarily exports meat, dairy products, and soy products to Guangdong Province," said Guerra at the China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair, held from June 26 to June 30, 2023. "Uruguay is looking forward to enhancing trade exchanges with Guangdong based on good cooperation."
