The Southern Song and Dance Troupe from Guangdong province is touring its musical production, I Like You, nationwide. Since June 19, the musical has been staged in cities around the country, including Chongqing, Zhengzhou in Henan province, and Beijing.

Highlighting Lingnan culture, which encompasses Guangdong province, the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, Hainan province, and parts of Yunnan and Fujian provinces, the production features a variety of art forms, such as rock, rap and yingge dance.

Yingge dance is a traditional folk dance popular in Guangdong and is often performed during traditional Chinese festivals. As a dynamic blend of theater, dance and martial arts, it was listed among the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage in 2006.

The story is about the rebellious son of a prestigious yingge dance family who returns home to inherit its traditions and, at the same time, break boundaries to promote the dance. It also depicts young people's deep-rooted sense of family and national identity.
