Dongguan, the world factory that used to produce toys for a dazzling array of global giants including Disney, Sanrio, Bandai, Funko, and Hasbro, is now becoming a trendsetter by exporting its original IPs to the world, including BabyThree, Laura, Mr. Pa, Nommi, and Maymei.
Toycity, originally an OEM manufacturer but now integrating both OEM production and original IP development, is seeing the popularity of its Laura and Mr. Pa IPs in Southeast Asia and Europe. Its "self-developed IPs plus Dongguan local production and global sales" strategy has become a microcosm of many Dongguan companies' journeys up the industry value chain.
Chinese mecha heroes developer Motor Nuclear once questioned why Chinese classical heroes weren't on the world stage, stating that they want their Chinese mecha heroes to accompany children worldwide.
