Recently, the National Intellectual Property Administration issued an announcement, recognizing Shunde eel, Shunde orchid, Chencun Citrus oleocarpa Tanaka, and Chencun Phalaenopsis (in no particular order) as national geographical indication products.

Following gambiered Guangdong gauze, Lunjiao cake, and Shunde red rice wine, Shunde has added four more national-level geographical indication products, marking a new breakthrough in the branding of agricultural products. It is reported that the total number of geographical indication products in Shunde has reached seven, ranking first among the five districts of Foshan.
As one of the birthplaces of Lingnan culture, Shunde is rich in natural resources and cultural heritage. Its unique natural conditions provide a solid foundation for the development of agriculture, fishery, and tourism. In 2024, the total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery in Shunde was 14.7 billion yuan, ranking first among the five districts of Foshan.

Shunde is known as the "Hometown of Eel in China". The eel produced here has tender meat, a delicious taste, and rich nutrition. Shunde has maintained an eel farming area of over 30,000 mu (including extended areas) for many years, with an annual output of over 50,000 tons, an export volume of about 20,000 tons, and an export value of 3.5 billion yuan. The export volume of grilled eel accounts for 20% of the national total and 70% of the provincial total.

Shunde orchid has a long history of cultivation. The plants are tall and vigorous, and the flowers have a delicate and gentle fragrance. They have participated in 11 international orchid exhibitions, 15 national orchid exhibitions, and 8 provincial orchid exhibitions, winning one overall championship, six special gold awards, and 88 gold awards.
Chencun Citrus oleocarpa Tanaka has a planting history of over a thousand years, with an annual output value of over 250 million yuan.

The Chencun Phalaenopsis cultivation base has become one of the most influential Phalaenopsis production and sales bases in the country. Currently, it has cultivated over 2,400 varieties, and its products are popular both at home and abroad, with an output value of about 230 million yuan.
