Yossi Vardi, widely seen as the godfather of Israel’s hi-tech industry, attended the networking, helping Guangzhou send out Fortune invitation to leading figures in politics and business worldwide. Other representatives of more than 60 transnational enterprises and mainstream media at home and abroad joined in the meeting as well.

This is the latest stop for Guangzhou’s roadshow meeting of 2017 Fortune Global Forum, after Switzerland’s Davos, France’s Paris, China’s Hong Kong, America’s New York and Washington D.C.

Although Yossi Vardi only visited Guangzhou twice, he is already an old friend of this city. He said, over the past few years, Guangzhou’s development was obvious to all, and Guangzhou is truly a city of opportunities for both China and the world.

Guangzhou has been named as one of the Best Cities for Business on Chinese Mainland by Forbes for five consecutive years; it was rated as one of the fastest growing megacities 2010-2015 in the UN World Urbanization Prospects; it is also home to nearly 300 Fortune 500 enterprises.

Guangzhou is boosting the construction of innovative ecosystem, which benefits increasing innovative companies of small and medium size. This amazed Yossi Vardi. He pointed out, each company gets to keep their own characteristics while they can still help each other, share information and feel the changes of the market, and then they innovate together; this is a great ecosystem, full of vitality and energy.

Recently, Guangzhou has successfully lured Cisco Innovation Centre China, GE Bio-tech Park and Foxconn 10.5-generation panel plant. Looking forward to the future, Guangzhou’s “IAB” plan is inspiring and exciting (IAB stands for Information Technology/Information Communication Technology, Artificial Intelligence and Biopharmaceutical); the city has sufficient conditions for the development of high-tech and high value-added emerging industries, said Yossi Vardi.

Besides, Yossi Vardi expressed his fondness for Guangzhou’s delicacies and beautiful sceneries. He said, Guangzhou is the capital of cuisine and leisurely life, with seafood, fine wine and over 300 kinds of Cantonese dim sum; named as Flower City, Guangzhou is surrounded by beautiful landscapes, and the city is livable, with affordable housing price.
