On December 7th, the “Fiesta Filipinas: An Online Celebration of Philippine Festivals” was officially launched online, a project which will allow locals and overseas Philippines to virtually enjoy the traditional art and culture of the Philippines.

The project is a six-part, multi-format online event series from December 2020 until May 2021. Each event is a multi-sensory experience with festivities chosen according to the natural calendar. There are live and pre-recorded videos and live workshops and activities as well some special gift kits to play with your senses: sight, sound, touch, smell and taste.

Guangdong, with over 2,200 Filipinos living in the province, has been the sister-province of Cebu since 2009 while Guangzhou has been the sister-city of Manila since 1982.

In 2019, Guangdong’s import from the Philippines was 6.70 billion US dollars, while the export volume to the Philippines reached 8.55 billion US dollars.

Here is the schedule of events:

1.December 19, 2020: Giant Lantern Festival

2.January 30, 2021: Sinulog Festival / Ati-Atihan Festival / Dinagyang Festival

3.February 27, 2021: Panagbenga Festival

4.March 20, 2021: Visita Iglesia

5.April 24, 2021: Lami-Lamihan Festival

6.May 29, 2021: Flores de Mayo

The first upcoming event is the Giant Lantern Festival on December 19th, 2020. So, stay tuned for more information with the Philippine Consulate General in Guangzhou!
