Danxia Mountain was listed as a World Natural Heritage site in 2010. Over the past few years, Danxia Mountain has created "science volunteers training camp", "wild plant identification contest" and many other activities. Meanwhile, it has also cultivated teams consisting of science experts to integrate the public education of heritage sites into the management and protection of the heritage.

It maintained cooperation with domestic and foreign universities and professional institutions, supporting scientific teams to conduct research on the conservation and utilization of heritage sites in the mountain.

All these efforts combine to become its project - Innovative Exploration and Practice of World Heritage Education of Danxiashan. The project was listed as one of the ten Innovative Case Studies on World Heritage Education, according to WHITRAP's announcement on July 6, 2021.

A Global Call for Innovative Case Studies on World Heritage Education has been launched by the WHITRAP, which is also one of the events of the World Heritage Committee's 44th session. Its aim is to select outstanding cases which exemplify innovative approaches to World Heritage on a global scale, to share and present these good practices to the widest international audiences and to lead and promote the future development of World Heritage education.
