Boasting both the folk characteristics and modern expression of dragon boat culture, large-scale contemporary dance drama "LOONG" will have its global premiere at the Guangzhou Opera House on December 8 and 9 this year.

On November 24, a press conference was held in Guangzhou to unveil the custom-made dragon boat head and tail, showcase a selected dance segment, release a trailer of its documentary of the same name and introduce its art derivatives.

The dance drama is co-produced by the cities of Guangzhou and Foshan, both of which are closely connected not only by dragon boat culture, but also the economic and cultural exchange and cooperation.

In the same-name documentary, you will get a glimpse of how the dance drama came into being in both Guangzhou and Foshan. Over the past three years, the creation team has traveled dozens of times to Guangzhou's Chebei and Panyu, as well as Foshan's Shunde for scope-out studies of dragon boat racing. During the earlier stage of the creation, the performers spent a long time living and training with professional dragon boat athletes at the training base in Foshan. They used to be laypeople of the race, but now are experienced in paddling and able to elegantly, passionately present the race in the form of dance.

Along with the final makeup photos and IP image of the dance drama, cultural and creative products were also unveiled at the press conference, including environment-friendly bags, badges, key chains, cell phone accessories, stickers, memes and calendars. And you don't want to miss out on the exclusive fashion accessories such as a titanium necklace with a paddle shaped pendant, a dragon boat shaped leather widget, and a jade paddle shaped ornament carved with dragon pattern.

What's more, the show applies state-of-the-art stage design including ice screens to highlight the performers' emotions and demonstrate their characters. Blending traditional Cantonese music and modern costumes, it will treat audience members to exciting evocations of dragon boat races, as well as a quintessential Guangdong cultures.
