On October 19, Danny Haiphong, an independent US journalist and researcher, posted a photo of a metro station in Guangzhou, China and a photo of its counterpart in New York City, USA on Twitter. He tweeted that "Train station in Guangzhou, China versus train station in New York City, USA".

The tweet has gone viral, and as of publication, it has received over 1,000 comments, more than 29,000 likes and over 6,000 retweets.

The train station in New York City, USA showed by Danny Haiphong is the Chambers Street station a platform of which was recently reported to be part of one of NYC's abandoned subway stations. However, reports of filthy NYC subway cars are many, and here is one of them.

According to a report by New York's own ABC7NY in June, "reports of unsanitary conditions in the subway, including everything from feces and blood to garbage, are grossing out riders of New York City's transit system and creating another deterrent -- along with crime -- to getting the Big Apple back to normal."

Here are some screenshots of the video report by ABC7NY:

The Guangzhou metro station posted by Danny Haiphong is on the much-heralded Guangzhou Metro Line 18, and the Line's Xiancun to Wanqingsha section officially began operation on September 28.

The subway train has a maximum speed of 160 kilometers and is the fastest subway train in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

15 trains with a top speed of 160 km/h are going on line. The whole trip takes approximately 42 minutes and trains will arrive at 7.5-minute intervals.

In addition to regular services, the line will also arrange two-way express services every 37.5 minutes. The express trains will stop only at 4 stations, Wanqingsha, Hengli, Panyu Square, and Xiancun, and the whole journey to downtown Guangzhou takes a mere 30 minutes.

All the travel information is displayed on the Passenger Information Display System (PIDS) in the trains and the LED screen in the stations. There will also be broadcasts of important information during the entire ride.
